Alula Launches New Enhanced Video Platform

Alula announced the release of its new video platform. Featuring new camera models, AI-based object detection, enhancements to video clip navigation and viewing in the Alula Smart Security App and advanced video capabilities through the new Slimline Touchpad PRO. These new products and capabilities strengthen the role that video plays as a core component of professional security, and further reinforces Alula’s position as a full-service solutions provider.

Three new cameras have been added to Alula’s video portfolio. The first is a modern, industrial designed Outdoor Bullet – perfect for viewing porches, alleyways, backyards and more. The second is a smart Doorbell camera with robust and simplified aesthetics, improved motion detection algorithms, and active motion highlighting. The final model is the Indoor 360, featuring responsive pan-tilt operation for broad viewing coverage. All three cameras deliver a high-definition viewing experience, motion detection, extended Wi-Fi range and night vision to help users see what’s going bump in the night.

The Outdoor Bullet camera, specially equipped with AI object detection, allows the camera to differentiate between vehicles, people, pets and other objects. System owners will appreciate that they are able to see more while capturing less, as AI object detection filters out “motion noise” and intelligently captures clips of desired activity – such as a child returning home from school or a potential unknown intruder.

With Alula’s Smart Security App, individual camera settings can be adjusted so that system notifications are sent to system users when specific motion activity occurs. App enhancements for navigating stored video clips make it easier for users to find and view clips that were captured at a specific date and time.

Alula’s new video platform can be used in multiple ways. It can be used as part of a more comprehensive smart security system when used in conjunction with the Connect+ control panel. It can be paired with the BAT-Connect alarm panel communicator, on new system installations or on legacy panels that may be in need of a feature refresh. It can also be used as a standalone video surveillance system, which is important for dealers and integrators who are looking for a way to get their foot in the door with consumers and small business owners that may initially only be interested in video services.

“If you need another reason to take a serious look at Alula’s new video platform, consider our newest system control interface – the Slimline Touchpad PRO,” said Corey Plender, Alula’s Vice President, Product Management & Customer Success. “These new cameras and our new touchpad have been purposely integrated to deliver an enhanced customer experience.”

The new touchpad brings these cameras to life by enabling users to monitor live or recorded video on a 7-inch, full color display. The Touchpad PRO plays an audible chime when the doorbell is activated. It also enables two-way conversation with visitors through the new Doorbell camera, or with people in various locations throughout the property with the Indoor 360 camera.

“The advances we’ve achieved with this new video platform are just the beginning,” Plender said. “We are working on intelligent processing that will allow us to combine the AI detection capabilities of these new cameras with our sensor technology. Using the video information and sensor activity together, will allow us to tell a more complete story of what’s going on inside of a home or business. These elements will all be brought together to further evolve the video verification experience.”

The Current Landscape of Cyber Security and Its Effects on the Security Industry
Speaker: David Brent, Senior Cyber and Data Security Technical Instructor, Bosch

There are roughly 35.8 billion Internet of Thing (IoT) devices worldwide, and that number is expected to double in the next five years. While IoT devices have been subject to several high-profile DDOS attacks, such as Mirai Botnet 2016, the primary question that arises is: Can these devices be weaponized and possibly used for lateral movement, based on basic OSINT? This session will review the Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) gathering and how basic information can lead to threats to existing systems. It will also cover what attendees should investigate before adding any new security technology to a network.

The New DICE Launches Video and IoT Analytics Premium Global Partner Program

The New DICE has developed a new video and IoT analytics premium global partner program to provide central stations and integrators with the option to combine advanced AI analytics technologies with DICE’s advanced interactive and video services in Matrix Interactive.

Matrix Interactive is a cloud-based event management software with interactive video, analytics, and artificial intelligence. The Matrix engine uses several third party’s multi-billion-dollar technologies embedded into the platform, providing true AI analytics going beyond motion detection and basic video verification. Configuration of areas of interest is done in Matrix to add flexibility such as scheduling to the partner’s analytics.

While Matrix Interactive has its own analytics, it is an open and generic platform for DICE partners and by integrating Matrix Interactive with other company’s analytics, monitoring stations and command centers can add new levels of security as well as advanced interactive and video services into their monitoring operations.

“Actually, we have hundreds of technology partners and many thousands of products that interface with Matrix,” explained Avi Lupo, co-president of The New DICE. “The world is changing, and it is essential to have an open platform that supports any technology partner and not through APIs which is limiting.”

The DICE open platform opens the gateway into central stations and command centers with the ability to provide new interactive video monitoring services. For integrators, this means there is no need to change the analytic company they are currently using to take advantage of these new services, but instead have the flexibility to pick and choose – and even add other analytic technologies from a variety of partners.

“With Matrix Interactive, the industry is not limited in choosing an analytic technology today,” said Lupo. “We are choosing our partners carefully. The integration with the high-end analytics from our premium partners provides new benefits and resources designed to bring more options to our growing Matrix Interactive ecosystem as the security industry races to keep pace with what we call the ‘new alarm industry.’”

The event flow of video and IoT devices takes advantage of both Matrix Interactive and each partner’s unique analytic technology. IP cameras and devices are easily configured within Matrix Interactive. Upon an event, the event is first sent to DICE’s server cloud Gate Keeper, which eliminates the amount of traffic to the partners. The pertinent events are then sent to the appropriate partner, which then analyzes the event in real time and then sends back the verified alarm to Matrix to then send to the central station operator. Matrix Interactive utilizes an event system flow like an alarm system, using virtual video zones. Subscribers can even arm and disarm the video zone.

With this program, the industry will realize access to the growing marketplace of video service solutions, unlock new revenue opportunities, and have a competitive edge in accelerating their customers’ digital transformation with enhanced security and better customer experiences.

The growing list of video and IoT analytic premium partners includes Actuate, Calipsa, Cawamo, Corsight, IronYun, M2M, Rhombs, Sentry AI, and Speco. Each of the partners will have information on integration with Matrix Interactive at their ISC West Booth, including postcards and brochures. There will be a QR code link to a landing page explaining more about Matrix Interactive, the analytic technology of each partner and the benefits of the integration and partnership.

“Our new global partner program is a game changer, which offers significant value and will maximize our partners’ ability to take advantage of Matrix Interactive’s solutions,” added Lupo.

UCC Mourns Loss of Longtime Employee

Harry Rossmoine, UCC’s IT Manager, passed away on Monday, 2/28/2022.  Loyal and devoted he was to both his own family and his work family. Harry was not only a great employee who was always willing to help out in any way he could, he was a friend, colleague and confidant to many. His high energy and positive attitude was infectious around the office, you never saw Harry down. He was always smiling even during the toughest days and situations. His strong faith in God was his foundation and he lived and walked his faith every single day. We take comfort knowing he is rejoicing in heaven; however Harry is greatly missed and leaves a big hole in our hearts.

His obituary:

On Monday, February 28, 2022, Harry L. Rossmoine was called Home and left his earthly body to join our Father in Heaven. Harry was a steadfast Christian, a devoted husband, and loving son, brother, father and Popi. He lived a life overflowing with faith and love for God and his family and friends.

Harry was born on July 9, 1962 in Indianapolis, IN. He accepted Christ in 1973 at Englewood Christian Church also in Indianapolis, IN.

Harry was a good son to George and Billie Crow. He was a hard worker from a young age until the end. He worked in IT for close to 40 years and was an IT Manager at the time of his passing. Harry struggled in school but not because he could not do the work but he was bored and did not always do the work. He left high school to join the Army. He served our country at Fort Bliss in Texas from 1979 – 1985. He lived in Florida for many years and loved the beach. To him, moving to Texas was one of the hardest things for him to do. He was so unhappy for the first six months. Then he met Tonya online. Once they met in person, they were inseparable. They were married June 20, 2015 by her grandfather while at a family reunion. Together they served at Church Unlimited and also lead a life group. He attended college for the first time in January 2021 at the age of 58. He and Tonya were working together to be Christian Marriage Counselors. Harry never stopped improving himself to help others.

Harry lived a life many of us can only strive for. He was always happy and doing what he could to uplift others. He was always the first to arrive and sometimes the last to leave. He would do anything and everything he could to help someone and did it with a joyful heart. He saw it as “I get to do this” instead of “I need to do this.”

Harry was preceded in death by his father, George Crow, and his niece, Brandi Rossmoine.

Harry is survived by his mother, Billie Crow; his brother, Steve Rossmoine; his wife, Tonya Rossmoine; his seven children: Johnathan Rossmoine, Jessica (Everett) Young, Ashley (Alex) Holy, Cody (Candace) Fedler, Michael Rossmoine, Jaclyn (Jacob) Fernandez, and Stephanie Rossmoine and his seven grandchildren: Skip Holt, Zander, Zea, and Lucy Dempsey, Juliette Fernandez, Annabelle Holy, and Zaylin Young.

Harry’s Celebration of Life will be held at Church Unlimited located at 24610 US 281 San Antonio, TX 78258 on Wednesday, March 09, 2022 at 1:30 p.m.

Those of us who remain behind will carry on his memory and good works until we can meet again in God’s sheltering embrace.

Sentry AI and Immix Announce New Collaboration

Sentry AI and Immix announced a collaboration to deliver human-like AI to monitoring, enabling them to supercharge their operators, lower costs, and add new revenue streams.

With this new integration, monitoring centers can now upgrade their video monitoring operations on the Immix platform by simply selecting “Sentry AI” in the AI Link setting. The integration allows monitoring centers to offer video monitoring services to a much larger user base as it significantly decreases time and cost wasted in handling false alarms.

A highlight of the joint solution is cutting-edge technologies infused with unique Situational Awareness capabilities. The solution perceives and comprehends camera data, considers historical patterns, and builds spatial and temporal context, all the way down to the camera level. The built-in self-learning component improves accuracy even more with time. This helps to deliver false alarm filtering, reaching 99% in many cases, freeing up the operators to respond quickly to true alarms.

Monitoring centers and security dealers will also benefit from the AI-powered camera matching and health check alerts to notify them when the camera system needs to be serviced.

To provide more information about the joint solution, Sentry AI and Immix will be hosting a webinar on March 1 at 11:00 AM EST. Please register for the webinar at https://smartsentry.ai/sentry-ai-immix-launch-webinar.
