What is the TMA Five Diamond Program?

TMA’s Five Diamond designation provides a competitive edge for your company in the marketplace. The program enables participating companies to display their Five Diamond designation on marketing materials, raising its status in the eye of the public. It improves your position with insurance companies and financial institutions, leading to favorable rates and discounts and increased valuations. Participating companies also gain access to resources and support that will help you advance your business.

TMA Five Diamond designation is granted annually to monitoring centers that satisfy all of the requirements of the five points of excellence:

  1. Commitment to random inspections and quality criteria standards by a nationally recognized testing laboratory such as FM Approvals, Intertek/ETL and UL.
  2. Commitment to the highest levels of customer service.
  3. Commitment to ongoing job-related education and testing by having 100% of its central station operators certified using the TMA online training series.
  4. Commitment to raising the industry standards through TMA membership and participation in its activities.
  5. Commitment to reducing false dispatches.

NOTE: Video monitoring companies that are hosted by a UL827 data center may participate the Five Diamond Program. The Five Diamond Program expanded in 2022 to include video monitoring companies that are hosted by a UL827 data center. Both the monitoring company and the data center must be TMA members.

Training Recertification

3-Year Certification Requirement for the Five Diamond Designation

Certification is a vital component of professional development and essential in compliance training. Periodic recertification demonstrates a commitment to maintaining competency. Recertification ensures your operator’s skills and knowledge are up-to-date on the regulations and rules that are essential to their job and industry.

The Five Diamond Committee and the TMA Board moved to include the addition of a recertification component for the Operator courses; certified operators will be required to recertify every three years.

The recertification program was implemented in 2021, all Five Diamond companies are required to be in full compliance.
