Principal Manager, Microsoft Azure Vision AI to Keynote The Monitoring Association’s 2021 Virtual OPSTech

The keynote for The Monitoring Association’s (TMA) 2021 Virtual OPSTech is Mr. Rouzbeh Aminpour, Microsoft Azure Artificial Intelligence Platform’s Computer Vision Business & Strategy Principal Manager. Aminpour will share how Azure’s Cognitive Services are enabling users to deliver breakthrough experiences through the use of industry-leading Vision AI models. Top-of-mind topics such as industry trends, use of edge and cloud infrastructures, enterprise grade and scalable model development, and responsible AI development will be the focus of his comments. TMA’s OPSTech is set to take place virtually November 30th-December 3, 2021; Aminpour is scheduled to speak on Friday, December 3, 2021 at 11:15 AM ET, and will kick-off the Technology track.

“In our business, the experience that our products and services provide for our customers – commercial and residential – is everything,” stated TMA President Morgan Hertel. “Today’s leading-edge technologies, such as AI, give security integrators and monitoring services companies the ability to deliver new, higher levels of comfort, convenience, and security. For our industry to compete successfully, service providers need to gain a strong understanding of AI and other technologies that are quickly emerging and gaining consumer interest. I’m excited to hear Mr. Aminpour’s unique perspective into AI’s potential impact on our industry.”

Aminpour is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine – The Paul Merage School of Business. Prior to joining Microsoft in 2017, he served as a senior product manager at Amazon.

TMA Members May Attend Annual Meeting for FREE

The Monitoring Association (TMA) is pleased to announce that through the generosity of its meeting sponsors, TMA members may now register to attend its upcoming 2021 Virtual Annual Meeting for FREE. Nonmembers may also register at a reduced rate of $450 for the three-day education and networking meeting. The virtual meeting will take place Tuesday, October 12th-Thursday, October 14th.

The 2021 meeting sponsors are:

  • Platinum – Alarm.com; Johnson Controls; MAS; and Resideo
  • Gold – ADI; ADT; and UL
  • Silver – Altronix; CIBC; DMP; and Salesforce
  • Bronze – Bosch, OneTel; and TRG Associates, Inc.

“TMA has been overwhelmed by the magnanimous generosity of our meeting sponsors who opted to support our 2021 Virtual Annual Meeting,” remarked TMA Executive Director Celia T. Besore. “Their financial support has made it possible for us to extend this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to all TMA members to take part in this meeting. We are so grateful to our sponsors for making it possible for so many monitoring center professionals to acquire valuable new knowledge and to network with some of the industry’s leading authorities firsthand.”

TMA Transitions 2021 Annual Meeting to Virtual Format

TMA has, in consideration of our attendees’ health and well-being, made the decision to transition its in-person 2021 Annual Meeting to a virtual format. Originally set to take place in Maui, HI from Sat., Oct. 9th-Wed., Oct. 14th, the virtual meeting will take place Mon., Oct. 12th-Wed., Oct. 14th. The latest event information, including updated registration options, can be found on the TMA website at http://tma.us/events/tma-2021-annual-meeting/.

“While the decision to cancel our face-to-face meeting was a difficult one to make for several reasons, the increasing cases of Covid and the impact of the Delta Variant coupled with a reduction in the potential number of available hospital beds and emerging international travel restrictions, left us with little-to-no alternatives,” remarked TMA President Don Young. “We could not consciously place our members, guests, or their families in a position that may potentially compromise their health.”

TMA Education Committee Co-Chair John Brady stated, “We have an outstanding program set to deliver and a slate of interesting and compelling speakers who are prepared to address this year’s meeting attendees virtually. We are also fortunate to have a platform that provides for a high level of interaction between speakers and attendees. We’re anticipating a great meeting!”

TMA Overflow Extension Room Block at The Westin Maui Resort & Spa

A recent pace report shows that TMA has sold 141% of our contracted room block at the Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua for our 2021 TMA Annual Meeting and that figure has now held steady for two weeks. Since the Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua has only limited rooms remaining over our meeting dates, and they are fully sold out on the final night of our meeting and for several nights after that, TMA has reached out to see what alternative properties might be available for those wishing to extend their stay in Hawaii. We have found that several other nearby properties are sold out or are near sold out status.

The Westin Maui Resort & Spa has agreed to provide us with a limited block of rooms for the nights of Wednesday, October 13, Thursday, October 14 and Friday, October 15. Rates may be available for 3 days pre and post subject to availability. Only 28 total room nights have been secured in our Letter of Agreement.

The rate for these limited run-of-house rooms will be $709/night.  A Daily Resort Fee of $40.00/night plus 14.16% tax per day will also be charged.  The resort fee and taxes are distinct and separate charges from the room rate of $709/night. All guests reserving under the TMA/Westin room block will be responsible for full payment of these charges and any other expenses incurred at the property.

A deposit equal to two (2) night’s is required to hold each guest’s reservations. Deposits are refundable if notice is received by the hotel at least seven (7) days prior to arrival and a cancellation number is obtained.

Reservations for all guests must be received on or before Monday, August 16, 2021, (the cut-off date). After the cut-off date the resort will release all rooms for sale to the general public and at the resorts discretion will accept reservations at the TMA rate on a space and rate available basis.

The Westin Maui Resort and Spa is roughly 6 miles from the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua.

The Monitoring Association (TMA) will not be responsible for any charges incurred by its members/non-members at The Westin Maui.

Reservations in the TMA Overflow block at The Westin Maui Resort and Spa can be booked using the following link:
