The Current Landscape of Cyber Security and Its Effects on the Security Industry
Speaker: David Brent, Senior Cyber and Data Security Technical Instructor, Bosch

There are roughly 35.8 billion Internet of Thing (IoT) devices worldwide, and that number is expected to double in the next five years. While IoT devices have been subject to several high-profile DDOS attacks, such as Mirai Botnet 2016, the primary question that arises is: Can these devices be weaponized and possibly used for lateral movement, based on basic OSINT? This session will review the Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) gathering and how basic information can lead to threats to existing systems. It will also cover what attendees should investigate before adding any new security technology to a network.
