Please note: This is the latest information as of July 9, 2021. We will continue to update, as we learn of new information.

Hawaii is a beautiful and unique state composed entirely of islands in the Pacific Ocean.  As such they are naturally isolated from other states and countries.  They are asking all travelers to join in their efforts to help keep Hawaii safe during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Beginning July 8, 2021, individuals fully vaccinated in the United Sates or its Territories may enter Hawaii on domestic flights without pre-travel testing/quarantine starting the 15th day after the completion of their vaccination.  Proof of vaccination will be required.  All other travelers must have their negative test results from a Trusted Testing and Travel Partner prior to departing as an alternative to Hawaii’s mandatory 10-day quarantine.

As of July 4, 70.13% of people living in Hawaii have had at least one dose of Covid vaccine.  52.19% are fully vaccinated.

Check these Hawaii travel websites for the most up-to-date information on the evolving restrictions:

Kahului Airport (OGG)

The major airport on the island of Maui is Kahului (OGG).  There are direct flights from the U.S. mainland from destinations including Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco, and Seattle, depending on your carrier.  Regional flights are also available from Honolulu and other Hawaiian Islands.

The Kahului Airport is the airport that will most likely be used by visitors to Maui.

Kahului (OGG) is located 34 miles from Kapalua, about a 55-minute drive/ride.  Taxi fare from the airport to the Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua is roughly $110-$140.

Kapalua – West Maui Airport (JHM)

This is a small, regional, single runway airport that is only open during daylight hours.  There are a very limited number of flights into this airport for travelers arriving into Honolulu or traveling to/from other Hawaiian Islands.

Kapalua – West Maui (JHM) is located just 3 miles from the Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua, about a $16-$20 ride by taxi.

Car Service

For AM21 attendees preferring a chauffeured car service to and from the airport, rather than renting a car, arrangements can be made through the Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua concierge.

  • A one-way transfer between the Kahului Airport (OGG) and the hotel runs $288.71 for a chauffeured sedan.
  • A one-way transfer between the Kahului Airport (OGG) and the hotel runs $311.41 for a chauffeured SUV, if you have more than 2 in your party.

During the Covid pandemic, rental car companies sold off much of their inventory to lower their overhead and keep their companies afloat.  Now, a surge of travelers has increased demand beyond fleet capacity.  While rental car companies are trying to replace inventory as quickly as possible, a shortage of semi-conductors has slowed production by car manufacturers.  Current demand in Hawaii is high and rental rates have soared.  If you plan to have a rental during your stay in Hawaii, you should make your reservation as early as possible to ensure availability.  Cars in Hawaii
